Fiestas Patrias & Calle Ocho

Each year, Chevron is proud to support the "patriotic holidays" – known as Fiestas Patrias – to help Hispanic communities celebrate their heritage and independence. Chevron participates annually in Calle Ocho, one of the largest celebrations of Hispanic culture in the U.S.

Fiestas Patrias

In California and across the southern U.S., Chevron sponsors several local events that encompass the cultural and festive celebrations associated with Cinco De Mayo (May 5) and Diez y Seis de Septiembre (September 6).

In markets such as Los Angeles, Houston, and Florida, sponsorship of Fiestas Patrias helps connect hundreds of thousands of people in the Hispanic communities with the Chevron brand through various event and retail site promotions.

Calle Ocho

El Festival de la Ocho, as it's commonly known, closes down a 23-block stretch of SW 8th Street in the Little Havana district of Miami, Florida. It is one of the world's largest street parties filled with food, crafts, entertainment, commercial vendors and music catering to all ages.

Broadcast and photographed by major media outlets, the festival captures the attention of audiences in major markets where Chevron operates.

For the 2006 Calle Ocho, Chevron partnered with Mitsubishi to give away cash and prizes – including a brand new Mitsubishi Eclipse – to consumers who entered a promotional sweepstakes at local Chevron retail stations. The contest was supported by television and radio promotions, as well as point-of-purchase materials at 145 Chevron locations.
